If you’ve read this blog for a while, you will know that anything released featuring Camp Lo I have to rep hard. Having Ski Beatz serve on production duties is just a sweetener - not only did he produce their undeniable debut album Uptown Saturday Night, but recently he has provided some excellent beats for the new school (including Curren$y, Freddie Gibbs and Stalley).

Well, here’s Volume 2. Been pretty focussed on a lot of my other, non-hip-hop related projects (which I’ll be creating an online hub for soon, and I will definitely link to it when it’s complete) but I always love putting an evening into a quick mix in between my other commitments.
This one, as I mentioned in the last post, is less R&B focussed but I don’t think any rap-heads will be particularly thrilled at the track list. Again, this is pretty specifically dumbfun music for partytimes. If you’re looking for a quick sugar rush then this is perfect.

Apologies for the silence. To make up for my general net-absence (and, frankly, quite horrible mood) I’ve put together the first volume of what I hope to be a long-running series entitled GUILTY LEISURE. All R&B + Pop + Hip Hop, mixing underground and mainstream, old and new. Hopefully you enjoy it, as it is “feel good music”.
Volume 1 is rather R&B heavy, featuring Drake, Kelly Rowland, The-Dream and others. The sort of music people often love in secret. If you’re deathly against the style, I have a few more planned that have more emphasis on the Hip Hop sides of things, though if you can’t find some sort of base, aural pleasure from the songs on here then I’m not sure what’s wrong with you!

Menacing as fuck, but really only worth listening to for Rittz.

Last summer, Sir Michael Rocks (aka one half of The Cool Kids) quietly released the very slept-on Premier Politics. Luckily, in the same sessions, Mikey had enough material to release a whole new mixtape’s worth of quality tunes, which has just been released.
Click here to get the download. It’s got a much jazzier, chilled out vibe than anything Cool Kids ever released, with some especially great production from Tye Hill and Brandun DeShay.

Another slice of explosive, maximalist, hip hop from the Star Slinger camp, this time featuring the #BASEDGOD and fellow member of The Pack, STUNNAMAN.
I know I’ve said it many times before, but I’ve loved everything Star Slinger has brought out in the last few months. If you need a primer, click here, here, here and just here in general.
